“The revolution will be quiet, slow”

excerpt from “Belly-Propelled” by Dan Hanrahan

The revolution will be quiet, slow

Happens in decay, coalescing

Like a guitar string breaking

Forming a new instrument

New songs are played

The revolution is slow and quiet

Beach waves breaking on the sand

People crying in the switchgrass

On the dunes among the lost creatures

Lost futures

The revolution is abandonment

Wildflowers overtaking

Derelict parking lots …
